Week of August 27, 2018 Students will Use Key vocabulary words and Content Vocabulary Words to Read and Analyze the News Article about the Lost Boys of Sudan to identify features on the news article and Identify Main Idea and Supporting Details With the support of close reading and reading strategy: Visualize. Students will use content vocabulary and complete sentences to Summarize, Compare and Contrast in writing the events in the Biographical Fiction Brothers in Hope and the News article with the support of Graphic organizers, sentence starters and paragraph frames. Writing Assignments are completed in Google Classroom Week of July 30, 2018 Students complete various activities to build background before the the section reading text: critical viewing and description of images, critical viewing and discussion of videos, vocabulary work. Students start reading Biographical fiction story. Week of August 6, 2018 Students continue reading the biographical fiction story, analyzing its features, structure, plot. Students complete written response activities based on the story. Students study adverbs, used adverbs to make their writing/sentences more detailed. Week of August 13, 2018 Students continue reading the biographical fiction story, analyzing its features, structure, plot. Students complete written response activities based on the story. Week of August 20, 2018 Students finish reading the story and review the materials in the reading section. Students will take the reading section test on August 23. Since track 2 is out, track 4 students will also work on All About Me Project. The test date was moved due to iReady Testing. |
